Soap legend William has been playing Ken Barlow since episode one, which aired on December 9, 1960. Talk about staying power! His impressive achievement makes him the longest-serving actor in the history of TV soap operas.Ken is still kept busy on the cobbles thanks to the antics of his family. His sons Peter and Daniel and adoptive daughter Tracy are permanent residents in Weatherfield, as are his grandchildren Adam, Simon and Amy.

Barbara first appeared briefly as Rita in 1964, but she didn't return again until 1972, when she finally became a full-time cast member. Her 46 years of servicemakeher the second longest-running character in the show– long may Rita reign at The Kabin!

Another of Corrie's best-loved stars, Helen has played unlucky-in-love Gail since July 1974,which means she's been on our screens for 44 years. Local mechanic Kevin has been a Street regular since 1983 and still has plenty of close ties on the cobbles – including his ex-wife Sally and daughters Rosie and Sophie. He's also dad to 7-year-old Jack, whose mum was the late Molly Dobbs.

Although best known as Jenny Bradley, the popular character is now a Connor after tying the knot with Johnny last year. Sally Ann first played the role of Jenny between 1986 and 1991, originally introduced as Rita's foster daughter.Long-term fans also know Jenny as the daughter of iconic villain Alan Bradley, who was famously killed by a Blackpool tram in 1989.

Known these days for being the biggest snob in Weatherfield (although we love her for it), Sally was first introduced to Weatherfield in 1986 as a love interest for Kevin. The former couple are parents to Rosie and Sophie, although Sally is nowmarried to cabbie Tim Metcalfe.

Daughter of Gail and Brian Tilsley, Sarah was born on screen in February 1987. Tina O'Brien took over the role in 1999, before bowing out in 2007 and returning as a show regular again in 2015.Sarah is mum to Bethany and 2-year-old Harry. Many of her recent storylines have revolved around Bethany's grooming ordeal and the teen's struggle to get her life back on track in the aftermath.

Sally's younger sister Gina was originally part of the show in 1988 and 1989, played by Julie Foy. Connie Hyde took over the role in 2017 when show bosses decided it was high time to reintroduce Sally's sis to the cobbles.

One of the most popular Weatherfield regulars both on screen and off, Beverley has played Liz since 1989. Liz is currently working at the medical centre and will get a blast from the past later this year when her ex-husband Jim returns.

Lovable idiot Steve also arrived in 1989 when the McDonald family were first introduced to the cobbles. Steve keeps busy these days by running local cab firm Streetcars, being a dad to Amy and baby Oliver, and trying to keep his demanding girlfriend Tracy Barlow happy.

The eldest daughter of Sally and Kevin, ditzy Rosie was born on screen in 1990. Helen Flanagan took over the role in 2000, before bowing out in 2012 and returning as a regular again from 2017.Helen is currently taking a break from Corrie after giving birth to her second daughter.

Teen tearaway turned family man David was born on screen on Christmas Day 1990 and is the son of Gail and her second husband Martin Platt.These days David has a family of his own, as he's stepdad to Max and dad to Lily. Following the tragic death of his wife Kylie in 2016, David has found love again with Shona Ramsey and is currently getting his life back on track after being raped by Josh Tucker.

Undoubtedly the biggest busybody in Weatherfield, Norris has been gracing our screens since 1994. Malcolm Hebden was initially a recurring cast member but became a regular in 1999. The newsagent shocked everyone by tying the knot with Mary Taylor last year in a sham-marriage con. Malcolm is currently taking a break fromCorrieafter suffering a heart attack.

The youngest daughter of Kevin and Sally was born on screen in November 1994. Brooke Vincent became the third actress to take on the role in 2004 and has played the character continuously ever since.

Daniel is the son of Ken Barlow and Denise Osbourne and appeared on screen from his birth in 1995 before departing in 1997. He also popped up in 2007, eventually returning as a regular in 2016 when Rob Mallard became the third actor to play Ken's studious son.

Cafe owner Roy was first introduced in July 1995, but wasn't an instant hit with the locals as many of them found him strange and over-friendly. Roy's heartwarming romance with Hayley Cropper (RIP) latersaw fans to fall in love with him, and it wasn't long before he became a much-loved resident among the Weatherfield locals too.

Robert was originally played by Julian Kay in 1996, 1999 and 2003, when his storylines revolved around then-partner Tracy Barlow. Robert reunited with Tracy when Tristan Gemmill took over the role in 2015, although since they've split again, he's moved on with Michelle Connor.
