Coronation Street has had us glued to our screens for a staggering 60 years.
The ITV soap has made us laugh and cry - it's had us on the edge of our seats with dramatic story lines from affairs to murders, lies, secrets and disasters across more than 10,000 episodes.
In fact, since we were first introduced to Weatherfield on December 9, 1960, we've witnessed 57 births, 131 weddings and a whopping 146 deaths.
Many actors and actresses have graced the famous cobbles - and many have gone on to become huge stars.
William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, hasn't left after starring in the first episode.
Tonight, Joanna Lumley narrates a special trip down memory lane, Coronation Street: 60 Unforgettable Years, with revelations from the show's stars past and present.
Here is a look at what happened to some of the soap's biggest stars after their characters left Weatherfield.
Bill Tarmey - Jack Duckworth
Bill Tarmey played the legendary Jack Duckworth in Corrie for more than 30 years - becoming a fan favourite.
He played womanising ex-window cleaner and gambler Jack, putting in the sort of polished performances that made his character a national treasure.
His marriage to Vera was an amusing mix of nagging, heated rows and scraps - but we all knew they had a genuine love for each other.
A massive 11million people tuned in to watch Bill’s final scene on November 2010 when Jack died in the same chair where Vera passed away two years earlier.
He was last seen dancing with her ghost – after she told him off for looking scruffy.
Bill decided to leave the soap because of multiple health problems and due to son Carl being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Sadly, Bill died in Tenerife from a heart attack in November 2012 at the age of 71.
On-screen wife Liz Dawn said at the time: “I am totally bereft. He will always be remembered by everyone he came into contact with because he was such a kind and generous man.
“You couldn’t wish to meet a more lovely man and a true gentleman.
"He was a gentle giant and I will miss him so much. Bill was part of my family.”
Liz Dawn - Vera Duckworth
Liz Dawn arrived on the cobbles as feisty Vera Duckworth in 1979 and would stay for 34 years.
Jack and Vera's relationship was much-loved by viewers and Liz received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 British Soap Awards.
Dawn was in the role until 2008 when she requested to be written out of the soap because of her lung condition - with Vera dying in her sleep.
She came out of retirement in December 2015 for a one-off guest role in Emmerdale.
Tragically, Dawn passed away peacefully in September 2017 after suffering from lung condition emphysema and undergoing heart surgery.
The 77-year-old was surrounded by her “heartbroken” family, including devoted husband of over 50 years Don Ibbotson, who said they were “bereft” at losing their “inspiration”.
John Savident - Fred Elliott
"I say, I say" - it's a catchphrase that Corrie fans remember fondly - and still miss to this day.
Fred Elliott was played by John Savident between 1994 and 2006.
John left the soap for "personal reasons" and Fred met a heartbreaking end when he died from a stroke after seeing Audrey Roberts.
Since leaving the soap, John has starred in pantomimes and on stage.
He starred in the 2012 Holby City Christmas special and voiced a character in Doctor Who audio-drama Order of the Daleks.
Sarah Lancashire - Raquel Watts
Raquel Watts was a long-serving barmaid at the Rovers and was played by Sarah Lancashire.
She was only supposed to be on Corrie for three months when she joined in 1991, but she was brought back and ended up staying for five years.
Dizzy blonde Raquel left her husband Curly Watts in tear-jerking scenes in 1996 which were watched by 20 million people, while more than 22 million saw their wedding.
When she left Coronation Street in 1996, Sarah blamed a punishing work schedule and said she wanted a job rather than a way of life.
She went on to star in ITV drama Where The Heart Is, BBC comedy Bloomin' Marvellous and an episode of Doctor Who.
In January 2000 she made a dramatic return to the cobbles when Raquel asked Curly for a divorce.
Nowadays Sarah is best known her her role as Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley and Caroline McKenzie Dawson in Last Tango in Halifax.
Kevin Kennedy - Curly Watts
Kevin Kennedy played the lovable Curly Watts for 20 years on Corrie.
After leaving the cobbles in 2003, Kevin launched an addiction recovery charity to help others with addictive and mental health disorders after being on his own journey of recovery from alcohol addiction for 22 years.
He set up the Kennedy Street Foundation to help hundreds of people across the country on their own road to recovery
They have a helpline manned by trained coaches all in active recovery who offer free virtual recovery coaching support, signposting and virtual workshops.
“The Kennedy Street Foundation is my passion; all we want to do is help people who find themselves in the desperate situation I was in 22 years ago," Kevin told Manchester Evening News in August.
"Our national recovery helpline is receiving calls every day and we really need to raise as much money as possible in order to be able to help each and every one start their own Road2Recovery.”
Kevin did make a return to our screens during last year's festive special of Mrs Brown's Boys as an angel.
Julie Goodyear - Bet Lynch
Corrie icon Julie Goodyear played the legendary role of Bet Lynch.
The fiery Rovers landlady was known for her extravagant outfits and big beehive hair.
Having first appeared in 1966, Bet left the cobbles in 1995 when she was forced to flee because of her spiralling debts.
In real life, Julie was secretly battling cervical cancer, which she only made public one she had recovered and founded a charity to form the Julie Goodyear Cancer Screening Centre
The character made a spectacular return in 2002, but the intended permanent move ended after just two weeks.
Julie quit once again because of the exhausting schedule but did return for a stint the following year for Liz McDonald's comedback.
In 2005 the actress took part in Celebrity Fit Club and starred in Calendar Girls on the West End in 2009.
Julie also had a memorable stint onCelebrity Big Brotherin 2012.
Sean Wilson - Martin Platt
Former Corrie star Sean Wilson played Martin Platt for two decades in the soap before leaving to pursue cheesemaking.
He set up the Saddleworth Cheese Company in 2009, whose products are stocked in Asda, and now makes an award-winning blue called Smelly Ha’peth.
Sean then returned to the school in Nantwich, Cheshire, where he learnt his trade as a lecturer in a bid to pass on his cheese expertise.
He has won a gold medal at the British Cheese Awards and was on the judging panel at the International Cheese Awards and The Global Cheese Awards.
In 2017 he landed a lucrative deal with Asda to supply supply his award-winning product to nearly 200 branches.
“My products are going nationwide. We supply 180 stores with delicatessens, so we’re very honoured," he said.
"I walk down the street and most people acknowledge I’m one of them, which is great when you’re selling something.”
Sean made a brief return to Corrie last year when Martin came to help son David.
Anne Kirkbride - Deidre Barlow
Corrie legend Anne joined The Street in 1972 as a teenage actress and never left.
Deirdre Barlow was known for her iconic specs and even had a real-life campaign to get her out of prison.
Her first marriage to Ken, in 1981, got higher ratings for ITV than that of Diana and Charles, two days later.
The cast, even on-screen husband Bill Roache, had no idea of her illness when she left Coronation Street in late 2014.
But he did get to say goodbye to her in hospital the day before she tragically died from breast cancer in January 2015.
“Grief is a continuous thing but it becomes a more joyful thing, I’m not one for sad memories, it’s about enjoying the person as much as you can,” Bill said this year.
“You were never short of a laugh with Annie and that’s what we remember about her most.”
Five years after Anne's death her name still remains on her dressing room door as a tribute.
Craig Charles - Lloyd Mullaney
Cabbie Lloyd was the best mate of Steve McDonald, despite once getting into a relationship with his mum Liz.
After ten years on the soap, Craig left in 2015 to concentrate on filming the new series of Red Dwarf.
Craig took part in the 2014 edition of I'm A Celebrity but left after four days after being told his brother Dean has died suddenly from a heart attack.
The DJ has dabbled in radio, hosting The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show and Craig Charles At Teatime on BBC Radio 6.
He is now a co-host on The Gadget Show.
Jean Alexander - Hilda Ogden
One of the most popular Corrie characters ever, Hilda was the cleaner who loved a gossip.
Jean Alexander got the comedic and dramatic scenes spot on and has been hailed as "one of the greatest soap stars in British TV history".
There was much sadness when Jean left Corrie after 23 years in 1987, but she did return for a one-off appearance in 1990.
Jean vowed to never return to the role and went on to appear in Last of the Summer Wine as Auntie Wainwright.
Sadly, Jean passed away just three days after her 90th birthday in October 2016.
She was taken to hospital after falling ill just a few days before she died as family and friends planned to gather to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Michelle Keegan - Tina McIntyre
Many will forget that Michelle Keegan started her acting career on Corrie as barmaid Tina.
She won Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards in 2008 and played Tina for another six years.
Her dramatic exit stunned viewers in 2016 when Tina was brutally murdered by Rob Donovan in an explosive storyline.
After quitting the cobbles, Michelle starred in Ordinary Lies before taking on the lead role of Georgie Lane in Our Girl.
Her Our Girl exit this year had viewers in tears, but Michelle is still on our screens in Sky comedy Brassic.
She also married former TOWIE star Mark Wright back in 2015.
Helen Flanagan - Rosie Webster
Helen Flanagan played Rosie Webster for 12 years until 2012, then came back for a stint between 2017 and 2018.
Trouble maker Rosie caused all sorts of drama for parents Kevin and Sally, including having an affair with her teacher John Stape and then being kidnapped by him.
Helen had a very memorable experience on I'm A Celebrity in 2012 when she was voted to take part in almost every trial by the public.
She repeatedly walked away from trials without giving them much of a go, meaning her campmates started getting very hungry.
It wasn't just Helen's campmates who grew frustrated, as the crew were annoyed that they were putting so much effort into planning the trials for their efforts to be wasted.
Last year, Helen took toInstagram to discuss her famous spell in the jungle.
"Right so I'm just catching up now on I'm A Celebrity," the 30-year- old said, "Just the thought of when Ant and Dec come on and say, 'For this challenge', it just gives me the fear.
"I remember as well when they used to explain things to me about the trials, I'd panic because I'd be so scared like when they used to talk to me about things I wouldn't even process because I'd be so worked up."
Helen has appeared in Holby City but ventured more into reality TV on Celebrity Wedding Planner and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
She has two daughters with footballer Scott Sinclar - with the couple expecting a third.
Bruno Langley - Todd Grimshaw
Bruno Langley's time on Coronation Street ended in disgrace after a disgusting crime.
Having spent 17 years on the cobbles, the shamed actor was booted off the ITV soap after he groped two women by the crotch and breasts on a boozy night out in Manchester.
Langley confessed he had a problem with alcohol and on occasions could not remember the morning after his drinking binges in Manchester Magistrates' Court in December 2017.
While he avoided prison, Langley was handed a 12-month "high-level" community order, slapped with an electronic tag, told he must sign the sex offenders' register for five years and pay £250 in compensation to each victim.
He wept in the dock as he was handed the sentence, as the judge told him it will be "difficult" for him to ever work as an actor again.
During a tearful interview with the Sunday Mirror, Langley issued an unreserved apology to the women he groped on a night out.
He claimed to have had a “total blackout” on the night of the attacks after a two-day booze binge, typical of his “drink, drink, drink” lifestyle, then only found out he had groped two women the following day when a shocked friend texted him.

"I know I’ve let so many people down and I’m under no illusions here, this was all my own doing," confessed Langley.
"To treat women in the way I did is truly shocking. No one should be subjected to that.
"I was horrified when I heard what I’d done. My behaviour was dreadful. I’m so sorry for what has happened. I’ve been on a downward spiral for some time but only this made me realise it.”
He vowed to change his behaviour and lifestyle "so that this will never happen again".
Langley's Corrie contract ended before the trial in October 2017 - and he did not get to film an exit.
At the time, a spokesperson for the show said: "Bruno Langley is no longer contracted to Coronation Street."
Corrie writers quickly cobbled together a departure storyline for his ex-character - with Todd going on the run from the law after assaulting a police officer.
With no acting opportunities coming his way, Langley started working behind the camera as a portrait photographer.
Ryan Thomas - Jason Grimshaw
Ryan Thomas was only 16 when he made his debut on Corrie in December 2000 as Jason Grimshaw.
The lothario had relationships with a string of women, but the only person who stayed by his side throughout was mum Eileen.
After 16 years on the soap, Ryan revealed he was leaving to have new experiences in other roles.
"It could be stage, it could be TV, or I could disappear and start learning my craft – start from the bottom and do some acting classes again," he told Digital Spy.
"These are all things that I need to do because I feel like I haven't done them yet."
After some panto roles, Ryan appeared in Neighbours before entering theCeleb Big Brother house in 2018.
Roxanne Pallett accused Ryan of deliberately punching her, but he was cleared by footage and Ryan went on to win the series.
She later admitted it was "an overreaction to what wasn't a malicious act" during a public apology to Ryan.
The actor met former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh while filming Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls in 2017.
They got engaged in June 2019 and recently welcomed their first child together, Roman Thomas.
Katie McGlynn - Sinead Tinker
One of the saddest deaths in Corrie history, poor Sinead lost her battle with cancer in the arms of husband Daniel.
Sinead's heartbreaking story had viewers sobbing and her character's powerful death is still impacting characters in the soap now.
After spending seven years on the cobbles, Katie decided to leave to pursue other acting opportunities.
She won a National Television Award for Best Serial Drama performance at the start of the year.
And she landed a leading role in the fourth series BBC drama series The Syndicate.
Speaking toOK! Magazine, Katie revealed that the role came about following her National Television Award win for her work on Corrie with news that The Syndicate writer Kay Mellor wanted to see her.
"I've always wanted to work with her. I was so nervous because I'd only played Sinead for seven years, but Kay was lovely and put me at ease," revealed Katie.
Brian Capron - Richard Hillman
Brian Capron has often been declared as the most hated soap villain of all time for his portrayal of serial killer Richard Hillman.
Some 20 million people watched his dramatic exit from the soap in 2003 after he went on a killing spree then drove the Platts into a lake.
Brian was only on the soap for two years, but is still remembered for his evil character wherever he goes and doesn't want to go on social media for fear of being targeted by haters.
After Richard drowned in 2003, Brian appeared in The Bill and was the narrator in the West End version of The Rocky Horror Show.
He was the first contestant to be kicked out ofStrictly Come Dancing2007 and now makes regular appearances on Loose Women.
Julie Hesmondhalgh - Hayley Cropper
Hayley Cropper has a place in all of our hearts.
Julie first played the first transgender character in a UK soap in 1998 and spent 15 years on the cobbled as Roy's wife.
Deciding she wanted to spend more time with her family, Julie left in 2014 when Hayley asked Roy to help her die after battling pancreatic cancer.
After Corrie, Julie starred in Channel 4 drama Cucumber and in 2016 joined the cast of Happy Valley.
She played the victim of a horrific crime in the final series of Broadchurch in 2017 and had a guest role in Doctor Who the following year.
Most recently, the award-winning actress has starred alongside Dawn French in The Trouble with Maggie Cole and The A Word.
Paula Lane - Kylie Platt
Paula Lane starred in Corrie from 2010 until her character's untimely death in 2016.
Kylie Platt died in husband David’s arms after being stabbed by evil Clayton, who in a bizarre twist would become David's step son.
Paula decided to leave the cobbles to go on maternity leave for her second child - and announced she would not be returning.
She revealed she wanted a complete break from acting to focus on being a mum to her kids.
"I think it’s got to be a clean break, I don’t think I’m going to take anything," she toldOK! Magazine
"I have to put Kylie in a box, literally. I think that’s the healthiest option."
